At east once in every summer when I was growing up, we had to make the drive to Tybee Island and the Atlantic beach there. An unreliable car, no sun screen, a flimsy bathing suit and too many passengers seemed to promise a bad ending. This link will take you to one of the many madcap vacations I enjoyed as a kid. I’m from Savannah and have great memories from Tybee. When I was very young the trip to ‘Savannah Beach’ included driming over the old Bull River bridge. Scary stuff.
Dan,
Thanks. I don’t specifcally recall the bridge. Was it one-way o a draw bridge? You remind me of the many shakey wooden bridges we often crossed in visits to our rural families’ homes.
